Daisy - Leucanthemum maximum - Alaska


Description : Garden origin.  Belongs to the Asteraceae family.  Perennial with oblanceolate basal leaves and lanceolate upper leaves.  Large, simple flowers with white, ligulate flowers and a yellow central cone. 

Height: 25-90 cm (10-36 in.)

Flowering: June-August

Zone: 3

Exposition: sunny location

Soil: rich and well-drained soil

Germination temperature: 16-18ºC (60-65ºF)

Required time: 20-24 days

Special care: Sow indoors between January 15th and February 15th or outdoors in May-June.  Do not cover the seeds but tightly press them into the earth.  Keep moist but do not soak.  Once germination has occurred, place in cooler conditions (15ºC/59ºF).
