Bloody Cranesbill - Geranium sanguineum

 

DESCRIPTION: Native to Europe and North Turkey.  Belongs to the Geraniaceae family.  Perennial with palmately lobed, deeply divided leaves. Numerous dark purple flowers with a white centre.

Exposition: sunny location

Soil: fertile and well-drained soil

Germination temperature: 16-18ºC (60-65ºF)

Required time: 20-24 days

Special care:  Sow indoors between January 15th and February 15th or sow outdoors in May-June.  Indoors, place tray in the refrigerator for 21-30 days before germination.  Cover seeds with a thin layer of soil.  Easy to grow.  Remove spent flowers to prolong flowering period.
