Our Mission
The Mission of our organization is to preserve the beauty of Les Jardins de Métis/Reford Gardens and to make the Gardens accessible to visitors and developing activities for lovers of gardens, culture and nature. Our mission includes offering services at the Gardens that provide experiences that share our commitment to tradition, innovation and conservation.
Principles of Maintenance and Conservation
Les Jardins de Métis/Reford Gardens provide an environment for visitors for contemplation, learning and teaching. The historic gardens are at the core of the experiences offered. Our principles for their maintenance and upkeep reflect those of the garden’s creator. The maintenance and restoration of our built heritage also respect the historic character of the estate and the surrounding landscape.
Visitors – at the Core of our Services
The quality of the site and the services offered by our staff of seasoned professionals is why our visitors come and why they return. Our commitment to our staff, our partners and our community are the same – to strive for excellence. Our staff is committed to offer services of the highest quality and to improve constantly.
The role and commitment of our staff is very important. They are the ambassadors of our organization. The Gardens are ranked among the best in North America. It is our goal to offer a welcome to every visitor and offer each of them the best service possible.
The Gardens began a process to implement our commitment to quality for each area of activity on the site. In 2006, the Gardens were granted the Qualité Tourisme Gaspésie seal of approval from the Association touristique régionale de la Gaspésie. The recognition was renewed n 2008.
The development of the Gardens depends on the contribution of every member of the team, whether it be in terms of maintenance, administration or services to visitors. It is very important that every staff person offers the same services and always in a cordial fashion.
Here are the principles that guide us
Take the time to treat every visitor with respect. Visitors are the reason why we are in business. It is thus important to understand our visitors in order to offer them quality services that respond to their needs.
Provide clear and precise information on our services and about the history of the site to our visitors as well as to our staff.
Be empathetic, courteous, alert and honest towards visitors and staff in order to earn their respect.
Use resources sparingly and assure that our actions are respectful of the environment and of other people.
Promote products from the region in our shops and restaurants and contribute to the local economy and culture.
Encourage the development and training of our staff and the recognition of their talents and expertise.
As part of our quality policy, we have established the following objectives
Respect our commitments to our visitors and to our staff at all times.
Put quality control procedures in place in order to ensure uniformity in the services we deliver;
Follow the established complaints procedure and respond to complaints rapidly and honestly.
The objectives in application
The Mission of the Gardens is largely achieved through teamwork. Training, the development of new products and services and speaking with a common message is important.
The different actions in various areas all have as their primary goal to satisfy our visitors and partners, assure collaboration in regards to decision-making, and to strive constantly towards the goal of sustainability.
The garden team is committed to constantly improve the quality of service and to use the processes and procedures in every aspect of the organization.
