This Rocks! Get Lost!

THIS ROCKS! GET LOST! is a temporary landscape. Rather than drawing its inspiration from its impermanence, however, the installation is a fragment of larger possibilities that we at MVVA believe in – and, like the way a phrase or a sentence nascently conveys the possibilities of a paragraph or a chapter in a book, our garden similarly considers things that we feel are getting lost in landscape making.

THIS ROCKS! GET LOST! is a re-affirmation of the deep and nearly sonorous timelessness of landscape in our lives, a moment to remember that landscape has the power to evoke, to transport, or even to unlock doors in our deepest thoughts. This project is closer to Gaston Bachelard’s poetics of space than it is to a virtual internet experience. The garden is an abstract and fragmentary exploration of the idea of the archetypal Canadian evergreen landscape, combined with an assemblage of strikingly white Vermont marble.
